THE DIRECTOR, NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE
WASHINGTON

Dear Mr. Lewis:

I have your letter of August 5th in regard to the announcement of the Yosemite Valley Railroad that they would not handle any special train or Pullman car service other than that which could be handled on regular trains during the construction of the Merced Irrigation District Dam at Exchequer. This announced policy, if maintained, will, as you point out, seriously affect rail travel into Yosemite next year. I am sending a copy of your letter to Director Mather, care of Superintendent Eakin at Grand Canyon, so that he will probably want to discuss it with railroad officials while in California.

Cordially yours,

Acting Director.
Mr. W. B. Lewis,
Superintendent,
Yosemite National Park,
California.
