April 27, 1946 Business Week
Swan song of the picturesque Yosemite Valley Ry. is now appearing in the trade press as the line, in liquidation, advertises its 78-mi. property and equipment for sale. For 38 years the road hauled ore, lumber, everyday tourists, and even royalty from Merced, Calif., to El Portal, entrance to Yosemite National Park. Last fall, the road was foreclosed in behalf of the bondholders, despite efforts of a group of young railroad fans to preserve it.
